Mars
Mars is the fourth planet from the sun and the second smallest planet in the solar system. It is named after the Roman god of war due to its reddish appearance in the night sky.
Mars has a thin atmosphere composed mainly of carbon dioxide and its surface is covered in iron oxide or rust, which gives the planet its distinctive red color. The planet has been explored by various spacecraft, with the most recent being the Perseverance rover, which landed in February 2021 to search for signs of ancient microbial life and study the planet’s geology and climate. Mars is considered a potential destination for future human exploration and colonization.
